Can You Help With Research?

Our current membership is geographically scattered and many of us have work or family commitments that make it impossible to carry out any researching in the local archives - usually Elmbridge and Chertsey museums and Surrey History Centre at Woking - and we have an ongoing project to record the pages concerning Oatlands in the 1910 Valuation Survey at The National Archives, Kew.

Whilst our reaearch coordinator would love to do a lot of the research himself, he lives in Spain for health reasons and is unable to do so - he can usually provide full references to items of interest and offer considerable advice to enable others to undertake it, even if they are not experienced.

The usual requirement is to photograph documents with a reasonably good quality digital camera (image stabilisation is a distinct plus point and auto-focus or good eyesight is a virtual must) and for these images to be emailed to to the research coordinator. We can do the emailing if your email package cannot handle large files.

If you are an experienced researcher or a complete beginner who would like to help with this vital (and often fascinating) work, please contact us using this form...
